Taylor Russell McKenzie was conceived in Vancouver, British Columbia on July 18th in 1994. She was also raised in Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal. [1][2The Russell was born to a black father and a white mother, is biracial, and grew up primarily with her mother's side of the family. She claimed that her skin color was a reason for her feeling disregarded by her peers as growing up. The family struggled financially. They were constantly moving and had to move 16 times in an attempt to support her father's work. Russell shared that despite all the challenges there was always an possibility to reinvent and make something completely new. Russell's parents had financial difficulties and she was always on the move. She was 18 when she started her first class in acting. She borrowed money from her job to buy an automobile and travel to Los Angeles to audition. She would go back to work once her savings was exhausted and would then begin auditioning again. The routine continued for four more years until she was offered her first TV role.
